Each warm-up is a small, easy puzzle that shows you the rules in about a minute. Then you’re ready for today’s.

Warm-ups don’t count toward your streak, so there’s nothing to lose. Play as many as you like.

Logic

Placement

  • Star BattleQueens with two stars in every row, column and region.Warm up
  • TentsPitch one tent next to every tree. The numbers count tents per row and column.Warm up
  • Light UpPlace bulbs so every cell is lit and no two bulbs see each other.Warm up

Shading

  • NonogramsShade cells to match the number clues and reveal a picture.Warm up
  • NurikabeShade the sea so every number is an island of that size.Warm up
  • ShikakuCut the grid into rectangles, each holding one number equal to its area.Warm up
  • HeyawakeShade cells in rooms. No white line may cross more than one wall.Warm up
  • LITSShade a tetromino in every region so all the shading connects.Warm up

Loops and lines

  • SlitherlinkDraw one loop. Each number says how many of its four sides the loop uses.Warm up

  • BridgesConnect the islands with bridges. Each number counts its bridges.Warm up
